The New Patriotic Party says it is not happy about the way Electoral Commission (EC) is handling the preparation for this year’s election.

The Western Regional Secretary of NPP, Charles Onuawonto Bissue noted that, they are not happy as a political party. And as a result, they have called for a regional executive committee meeting to look into the new case of missing ballot papers.

Six ballot boxes of the Electoral Commission (EC) fell off a truck conveying them to Tarkwa-Nsueam Constituency to be used for the December 7 polls in the constituency.
The six boxes were part of a bulk of about 44 which were being transported from the Western Regional head office of the EC in Sekondi to the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Constituency.
They worry the papers might get into the wrong hands on Wednesday, December 7, general elections.

But in a telephone conversation with African Elections Project secretariat at Penplusbytes, the Deputy Director of Communication at the EC, Mr Yussif Ayuba confirmed that it is true that the boxes fell off but assured that, “the empty ballot boxes that fell off will be replaced.”
We have serialised our boxes so nobody can bring any box from somewhere and use it, he added.
NPP Constituency Executives have been asked to go to the district EC offices and conduct an audit of all the ballot papers, count them book by book and page by page to ascertain what is happening there.

However, the police have been tasked to investigate the incident.
