Hearts of Oak trainer David Duncan guided his side to his first home win, beating Liberty Professionals 2-0 in Accra yesterday after assuming the hot seat barely three weeks.

The victory, no doubt, has calmed the nerves of the Rainbow family, which hitherto had thrown their hands in the air following the club?s recent not-too-impressive performance.

Liberty began well tactically, but caved in, allowing the Mahatma Otoo-led side to control affairs after 23 minutes in a game watched by a sparse crowd.

Despite Hearts? dominance in the first half, goalkeeper Daniel Adjei denied them many attempts at goal, intervening at the right times.

Dreadlocked Laryea Kingston partnered well with Otoo in many of their runs, but none paid off until goal stopper Adjei fouled Ashitey Olenu in the box, 17 minutes to the end of the game for a spot kick.

Hearts? Ivorian import Ruben Gnagne stepped out to effect the kick to draw first blood. Three minutes later, Ashitey doubled the Phobians? lead to send the jubilant fans into a frenzy mood.

Thereafter, Hearts took full charge of the game and sent a strong signal to Amidaus Professionals, their host for their week-nine clash in Tema this Wednesday.
