Dr. Lawyer Nyamekye has donated essential medical equipment and furniture to the Oyibi Health Centre in the Greater Accra Region as part of efforts to support quality healthcare delivery.
The donation, which took place on 7th April 2026, included stretchers, wheelchairs, plastic chairs, screens, and drip stands to improve services at the facility.
Speaking during the presentation, Dr. Nyamekye, Esq. emphasized the importance of supporting one another in society, stating that humans are their “brother’s keeper” and that giving to others is more blessed than receiving.
He was accompanied by members of the Young Leaders Forum, a group he mentors in leadership and integrity. According to him, the initiative also served as an opportunity to educate young leaders on honesty, responsibility, and the importance of maintaining integrity in leadership.
Explaining the reason behind the donation, Dr. Nyamekye, Esq. said the team observed that pregnant women, critically ill patients, and other visitors to the health centre were often left standing for long hours at the Out-Patient Department (OPD) due to the lack of adequate seating.
He noted that many of the chairs previously available at the facility were in poor condition, making it necessary to provide new ones to improve comfort for patients and visitors.
Dr. Nyamekye, Esq. also urged the management and staff of the health centre to cultivate a strong maintenance culture to ensure the donated items are properly cared for and serve the community for a long time.
According to him, the medical officer in charge of the facility, together with the staff, assured the donors that the items would be well maintained.
He added that the support came at a crucial time, as the health centre had been appealing to individuals and organizations for assistance due to the challenges facing the facility.
