Over 100 Rwandese soldiers entered North Kivu province, east of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo) during Tuesday night, local official and a civil society source told Xinhua on Friday.
North Kivu governor Julien Paluku confirmed the Rwandan soldiers had illegally entered the Congolese territory.
According to Antoine Ndagije, vice chairman of the region’s civil society movement, the Rwandese soldiers entered the country through Kibumba border post after the DR Congo army left there.
“These soldiers entered Virunga Park and the local population saw them,” Ndagije said, adding that “he was sure the Rwandan soldiers were preparing for some actions on the Congolese territory.” Enditem
