Article 94 of the 1992 constitution sets out the qualification and eligibility criteria for membership of Parliament. Key among the criteria is the nationality and age qualification which requires an MP to be a Ghanaian citizen of not less than twenty-one years and a registered voter.
Therefore Dr Baah should keep mute on the discouragement and cold shower statements he has been pouring on the young Member of Parliament hopeful and rather be mentoring her, encouraging her and if possible share with her some few things he thinks might put her on the going.
Dr Baah in most of his statements, expresses a clear indication he does not endorse the youth leadership and empowerment; he has no iota of believe in them. It is unfortunate his calibre of person chose to go that way. A person who in his positon, could have raised the standards of the youth empowerment is rather hindering the thriving and flourishing processes; it is a shame.
He should understand that, the old days are no more and therefore intelligence, wisdom, knowledge and experience is never age dependant. Intelligence and wisdom is a God blessed, it is by nature but knowledge and experience is the exposure, the individual has had on certain areas and its acquisition is not time variable but the innate zeal and passion for it.
Experience is not the grey-haired individual neither is it the Methuselah-aged person if that is what Dr Baah thinks. I challenge him not to thrive as Member of Parliament himself and will fail with a percentage less than 35% should he have the opportunity to be part of the legislative board. His failure will be how complex he makes issues instead of digesting them to mere simple one. Simplicity counts, it really does in the system of governance and most people in governmental offices are failing because they don?t go by the mere simple way to solve issues. They make them complex, then the issues engulf them to a state of no survival.
He has a very nice platform to be promoting the youth and not to hinder or frustrate them. The youth must therefore go all out to take their stands. The elderly ones have failed, the so called experienced ones even seem more childish than we are and those tagged with wisdom are portraying otherwise. I think the youth have really got something to offer. We the youth must go all out with no state of fear. We can do it better, YES WE CAN!
