The entrance of the State House and some vehicles within the premises were vandalised by some angry residents of Old Fadama in Accra on Monday.

STate houseThe angry residents are protesting the demolition exercise which took place at Old Fadama in Accra over the weekend.

Citi News? Kojo Agyeman who was present at the scene reported that the protesters destroyed some of the flower pots at the main entrance of the Parliament House. They also peeled off the coat of arms at the entrance of the State House and proceeded to smash the windows of some of the buses yet to be distributed for Bus Rapid Transit project.

Thousands of structures were pulled down to make way for the dredging of the Odaw River and the Korle Lagoon.

The residents who have been rendered homeless say they must be compensated. Kojo Agyeman reported that the protestors marched to the State House to demand to speak with President John Mahama ?because they say he is a brother of theirs and he gave the directive to the AMA [Accra Metropolitan Assembly] to demolish their structures last Saturday and they are expressing their anger.? ?The Police are trying to calm them down. They are trying to get onto the stair case at the Sate Banquet Hall.?
