Chief of Staff Julius Debrah on Friday called on Ghanaian businesses and the government to act decisively in positioning the country as the premier manufacturing destination in West Africa, saying the window of opportunity will not remain open indefinitely.
Speaking at the Kwahu Business Forum 2026, which opened at the Kwahu Business Village in Mpraeso on April 3, Debrah argued that stronger collaboration between the public and private sectors is the most reliable path to achieving meaningful industrial transformation.
He has previously stressed that national progress depends on the strength of private enterprise, urging stakeholders to pool knowledge and resources to transform Ghana into the industrial powerhouse they envision.
Debrah has pointed to President John Dramani Mahama’s 24-Hour Economy policy as the catalyst for genuine industrialisation, arguing that earlier governments attempted to industrialise but lacked the clear direction that the current administration now provides.
The 2026 Kwahu Business Forum, held under the theme “The Future of Business: The Role of the Financial Sector,” brought together leading entrepreneurs, investors, and policymakers, with the Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), Dr Johnson Pandit Asiama, also expected to address participants.
The forum, which is expected to attract more than 1,000 participants, features trade exhibitions with over 200 businesses registered, policy dialogues, panel discussions, and entrepreneurial success stories.
The three-day event runs through April 5.
