Ghana international goalkeeper Fatau Dauda gets his first competitive debut for Orlando Pirates.
“In Dauda We Trust!” has been the trend in South African side Orlando Pirates since Meyiwa got injured last weekend. Fatau Abdul Dauda gets to start today for the first time as Pirates are taking on Polokwane City. He is in the starting XI and will look to do what he does best since all eyes will be on him.
Dauda said there’s nothing more than keeping a clean sheet since the fans have more faith in him.
“Clean Sheet, Clean sheet is all I’m looking for. It?s a fact that I?m under pressure to play regular to be included in the Black Stars team to the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil,? said Dauda
?Competition is healthy, it keeps the three of us (Mhlongo, Dauda and first-choice goalie Senzo Meyiwa) on our toes. I will keep on working hard to impress the coach.?
Polokwane City will welcome Soweto giants Orlando Pirates to the Peter Mokaba Stadium for an Absa Premiership clash on Saturday. The match will get underway at 15h30.
Orlando Pirates are placed seventh on the Absa Premiership log with 23 points from 13 matches.
Polokwane City and Orlando Pirates have had just one previous league meeting. That encounter took place earlier this season, with Bucs winning 1-0 thanks to a goal from Rooi Mahamutsa.
Dauda knows he have to play more in Pirates because if not, then it will limit him the chance of being selected in the squad for the World Cup in Brazil.
The current Ghana No. 1 faces a tough challenge from Adam Kwarasey, Daniel Agyei, Stephen Adams and Richard Kingson for the Stars first goalkeeper spot in Brazil.
