The Coalition of Youth for Positive National Development (CYPOND) has congratulate President John Mahama for the significant landmarks he has left in the development of Ghana.
In a press statement, CYPOND laud the overt manifestation of competence, and fortitude in creating the requisite environment and laying the fundamental pillars needed in getting Ghana out of darkness, abject poverty, perennial water crises, deteriorating educational facilities, poor transportation and the over reliance on lower value exports among others.
“We appreciate that, the path to reaching this height in your administration has not been smooth and rosy, as you had to stand firm to supplant daunting challenges of which some were natural and others anthropogenic. We vividly recount the historic eight months elections litigation at Ghana?s Supreme Court, incessant fire outbreaks in critical markets and state installations, power crises that engulfed the energy sector, a share of the global financial crises and an exacerbated penchant for strikes and demonstrations from public sector workers among others. Amidst all these challenges, Your Excellency, you demonstrated beyond all reasonable doubts that, ?the horns are never heavier than the bull that is to carry them?. This, we reckon as the caliber of leadership that we require as a nation,” they said.
According to Puo-ire Prosper, the Executive Secretary of CYPOND, the building of the University of Ghana Teaching Hospital, expansion and upgrading of the Ridge and Police hospitals, the construction of a military hospital in the Ashanti Region, the construction of the Upper west Regional Hospital, the upgrading of the Tamale Teaching Hospital, among several other beautiful investments in the health sector will re-energize that sector in no small way.
“Your Excellency, it is with great delight and pride that, we appreciate you for putting Ghana ahead of schedule in its target to have universal access to adequate portable water. Your zest at removing all bottle necks militating against our transport sector is evident in the vigor with which you are building critical infrastructure in that sector.”
According to CYPOND, the rate with which the President works to ameliorate the infamous ?dumsor, dumsor? conundrum which has become an albatross on the neck of mother Ghana for several decades, deserves a large heart of appreciation from all well-meaning Ghanaians.
As youth who are the potential long term beneficiaries of all the sound economic pillars that you are raising for our nation, they want to particularly draw special attention on the creation of the YES Fund and the current restructuring of GYEEDA to make it not just a transit point for young job seekers but as a proactive measure of engaging us to sustainably contribute to nation building.
“We see a bright light at the end of the tunnel of his Excellency?s regime since the beginning has been promising and fulfilling. We are all therefore entreated as Ghanaians to join the wagon of national development. Once again your Excellency, we say congratulations,” CYPOND stated.
