Information privy to Today indicates that the Convention People?s Party (CPP) is in league with and in the process of merging with the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Deep throat sources close to the leadership of the CPP hinted that the possible merger was a condition of covert support for the ruling party in ensuring that it won the December polls in the first round.
The sources told Today that the purported merger informed the Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Junior?s continual insistence that the NDC will win one-touch even at a time when most credible polls prior to the December elections including the Synovate polls predicted no party will win one-touch.
Our sources named leading members of the CPP including Professor Agyemang Badu Akosa, Abu Sakara Foster, Samia Yaaba Nkrumah, Kwesi Pratt Jr., and others as the brains behind the merger that would ?murder? Nkrumah?s legacy.
?And indeed, they did a yeoman?s job to ensure that the ruling party won the election in the first round?,? our source added.
Today?s findings revealed that the arrangement was that in the event the NDC won the election one-touch, certain ministerial positions and other appointments would be offered these key CPP stalwarts.
Positions that were negotiated for in this grand conspiracy, Today gathered, included the Ministry of Agriculture, and other Cabinet positions.
Our source further revealed to this paper that the CPP flag bearer was ear-marked for the Agriculture Ministry and its chair person, Samia Yaaba Nkrumah would be offered a cabinet position.
The process towards the realisation of the government side of the bargain, Today was told, had already began as Mr. Pratt Jr., was resourced in the heat of the elections to convert his bi-weekly newspaper into a Daily one to back John Mahama?s bid for the Presidency.
Further checks revealed that many of NDC young communicators always trooped to his office for ?advice and training? on how to defend the government?s position on issues.
The party?s only representative in the fifth Parliament of the fourth republic of Ghana was also to help the NDC?s candidate, Mr. John Mahama win massively in his constituency hence a release of posters of her without the image of their flag bearer during the 2012 campaign.
Already Professor Badu Akosa has been named in the transition team that has been set up by President-elect, John Dramani Mahama, to see to the transfer of power from the old administration to the incoming one.
And Samia Nkrumah, our sources reveal, is being considered by the Mahama administration for a cabinet position.
