The convention people?s party has just elected their national executives over the weekend. During the congress one of the talks that dominated the numerous speeches by the various speakers was the need to unite all the Nkrumaist parties especially the Peoples National Convention (PNC).
Madam Lucy Anning the first woman parliamentarian in the elsewhere Nkrumah?s regime is believed to have said that Dr. Michael Abu Sakara Foster the 2012 flagbearer of the party and Mr. Kwesi Pratt Jnr, the editor of the Insight newspaper have both used Nkrumah?s name to achieve riches.
Comrade Osei Kofi Acquah describe this as laughable and explains that, Dr. Sakara who holds a PHD in Agric is a self-made man who has calved a name for himself both locally and internationally even before he became a flagbearer of the CPP. He goes on to say that Dr. Abu Sakara has always been a millionaire even before joining active politics.
Dr. Sakara has passed through the rank and file positions of the CPP before he became the flagbearer of the party
He supported 4 constituencies and their parliamentary candidates of Northern Region in 2000 and 2004, spending millions of Ghana cedis on them. He resourced them with Offices, motor bicycles and vehicles.
He became an active member of the Patriots, an active group in the CPP which worked was tasked to revive party and make it more vibrant and he worked tirelessly to ensure that the party became attractive.
He served as 1st National vice chairman from 2007 to 2010.He had oversight of the party and ensured a fair election that brought in the Samia led national executive team into office. His hard work, knowledge in Nkrumaism, and selflessness made then flagbearer Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom chose him as the CPP vice Presidential Candidate in 2008 and bore his own campaign expenses as a contribution.
He filed as CPP Damongo Parliamentary in 2012 elections and only refilled as Presidential Candidate after exit of Kwesi Nduom from the party.
Dr. Sakara has decided to share his in-depth knowledge in the ideology of Nkrumaism by contesting and getting elected as the educational secretary of the Korle Krotey constituency in the Greater Accra region.
Dr. Sakara is the only leading member of the party who has taking a grass root role (Education Secretary) just as the party ideology teaches.
The fact remains that madam Lucy Anning is a staunch fan of Madam Samia Yaba Nkrumah who has declared his intentions to contest for the flagbearership on the ticket of the CPP. The fear that Samia may lose the contest has prompted not only madam Lucy Aning but also Prof. Benjamin Nadu Akosah who came out of his 4 years self-imposed exile on all party activities to do a smear campaign against the man who single handedly financed the re-organization of the party, the election of constituency executives and regional executives.
The CPP is said to shock Ghanaians by increasing its electoral fortunes by Comrade Osei Kofi Acquah tells us that ,that prediction can work only if people like madam Lucy Aning, prof Akosah and other leading members who are supposed to be unifiers will stop the smear campaign which further deepens the rivalry in the party and takes to preaching comradeship instead.
