Police confirm blast, while residents say it was a transformer that exploded

Controversies have trailed the explosion which occurred at about 11:30pm on Friday around Krystal Lounge relaxation spot located at Wuse II, a few kilometres from Etisalat office, in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
According to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA)?s Head, Public Relations Unit, Shuaib Yushau, who confirmed the blast, the explosive was suspected to have been planted on a tree opposite the relaxation centre, which later exploded.
“There is no human casualty. However, 6 luxury vehicles were damaged, window glasses of buildings around the vicinity shattered by the blast,” he said.
On his part, the Commissioner of Police, FCT, Adenrele Shinaba, who visited the site at about 12p.m. On Saturday, said an object was threw from a moving vehicle on some cars parked by the roadside, which exploded thereafter.
In an interview, Shinaba also confirmed that no death was recorded.
However, some of the residents in the area told Daily Times that the explosion was caused by a transformer which exploded, causing damage to the vehicles, while patrons deserted the relaxation centre for fear of being affected.
