Both teams will battle for the U-20 Women’s World Cup ticket

Democratic Republic of Congo U-20 women arrived in Abeokuta on Thursday for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifier against the Super Falconets of Nigeria.

DR Congo arrived at the Murtala Muhammed Airport with a contingent of 25 persons, before travelling to the Rock City by road.

Both teams are in polar position to pick one of the two tickets available for the World Cup slated for Japan later in the year. The DR Congo squad eliminated Cameroon and also pounded Mali, conquerors of Equatorial Guinea, in the last round.

Falconets’ Head Coach, Edwin Okon, however remains confident of the team’s ability.

“We are well-prepared for this match,” Okoh said. “Our focus is on a good win ahead of the second leg match in Kinshasa.”

The match officials from Uganda also arrived on Thursday aboard an Ethiopian Airline flight from Addis Ababa.

The winner of this fixture will qualify as one of Africa’s two flag-bearers at the 2012 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup billed for Japan in August/September.
