Communities Asked To Bury Their Differences

The Central Regional Minister, Mr. Aquinas Tawiah Quansah, has appealed to communities engaged in chieftaincy disputes to bury their differences in the interest of development and growth of the area.

Mr. Quansah said this when addressing a durbar of chiefs and people of Awutu Beraku Traditional Area to climax the celebration of this year?s Awubia festival held at Awutu Beraku.

Earlier in the day the Paramount Chief, Nai Abokuade Wyettey Agyemang Otabil III, and other chiefs were carried in palanquins through some of the main streets of the town.

Mr Quansah said it was important for the numerous chieftaincy disputes and litigations in the region to be settled because they retarded development.

He said the government was committed to achieving its Better Ghana Agenda despite the current economic hardship facing the country and that as a people they should also support the government to bring sanity into the society.

Nai Agyemang Otabil appealed to people in litigation in the area to give peace a chance in the interest of growth and development of the area.

He called on the youth to always embrace peace, take their education very seriously, abstain from drugs abuse, avoid premarital sex which could led them to become victims of HIV/AIDS and unwarranted pregnancy.

The Paramount Chief advised his people to always adopt personal hygiene and also adhere to health tips to protect them against communicable diseases such as cholera, malaria and Ebola.

The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Madam Hannah Tetteh, commended the people for a peaceful celebration of the festival and appealed to them to bury their differences to forge ahead in unity.

Madam Tetteh, the Member of Parliament for the area, gave the assurance that by 2016 the District would achieve about 95 percent on National Electricity Grid coverage.

She said she would continue to sponsor vacation classes for school children in the area and appealed to parents to encourage their children to be part and of the programme to help them pass the Basic Education Certificate Examination with good grades.
