ANGRY YOUTH of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) at Acherensua in the Asutifi South District of the Brong Ahafo Region, have sent a strong signal to President John Mahama that they will not accept anybody appointed outside the town as District Chief Executive (DCE) for the newly created district.

According to the youth, the Acherensua community has been cheated by the government for far too long after the town was denied the district capital when the district was created last year despite the many assurances made by the Mills? administration.

The angry youth warned that if the President failed to nominate a native from the town as the first DCE for the district, they would use all legitimate means including demonstrations and boycotting of activities relating to the district to register their displeasure until their preferred choice is given the nod.

Addressing the press at Acherensua on Wednesday, the group calling itself ?The Concerned Youth of Acherensua? said though the announcement for the appointment of the DCE for the district has not yet been made, a close associate of a high ranking government official from the district is trying hard to make sure that one Modestus Norwosor, the NDC Constituency Secretary gets the nod because of his
parochial interest.

They pointed accusing fingers at Hon Collins Dauda, the MP of the area, as.the man behind machinations to get the constituency secretary appointed for the DCE position.

The youth therefore warned Hon Dauda to stay clear from the race since his tricks have been the cause of the.woes of Acherensua.

The Spokesperson of the youth group, Innocent Kofi Ahiamadzi, told the press that what makes the issues appalling is that Mr Norwosor, who is being pushed by Hon Dauda, was not part of the four shortlisted candidates who contested for the position.

The Concerned Acherensua Youth therefore appealed to President Mahama to nominate one Frank Tweneboa-Kodua, a man they described as the ?people?s choice? who is a native of Acherensua as the DCE for the area.

?The people of Acherensua are waiting anxiously with numerous appeals from all quarters about the appointment of Mr Frank Tweneboa-Kodua as our District Chief Executive for Asutifi South District to calm nerves as a result of the disappointment that the people of Acherensua went through when the district capital was sited at Hwidiem instead of Acherensua,? they pointed out.
