Founder and Leader of ?In Him is Life Church International?, Rev Isaac Opoku Obotsio, has described the General Overseer of Glorious Word Power Ministries International, Rev. Owusu Bempah as a ?doom prophet? whose prophecies are not from God but attention seeking statements intended to create fear and panic.
According to the man of God, Rev Owusu Bempah?s approach of announcing his prophecies, which are always about the possible death of a public figure, are Biblically inaccurate and must be condemned by all believers in the gospel.
In an interview with The Al-Hajj, Rev Opoku Obotsio noted there was no occasion in the Bible where a Prophet went to town with his prophecies to attract needless attention like the way the General Overseer of Glorious Word Power Ministries International has been doing.
Quoting Roman 13:1 to support his claim, the man of God stated that ?the norm as contained in the Bible is that if you are a Prophet and God reveal something to you about someone, you approach the person and narrate it to him to find ways of averting it. But not to go round trumpeting it to everybody?
Roman 13: 1 states ?Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God?
He said if Rev Owusu Bempah wants a platform to become popular, he should not use the name of God to achieve that purpose, saying ?some of us will not allow him to misuse the name of God.?
Rev Opoku Obotsio could not fathom why all Rev Owusu Bempah?s prophecies are always negative, mainly predicting the death of a known public figure or economic doom, adding that ?Owusu Bempah?s prophecies are not from God, if you?ve followed him closely, all his prophecies have ?if? or ?but? clauses.?
?What he does is that, he list the name of prominent people from all sectors of society, ranging from politics, journalism, chieftaincy, music, sports, academia etc and then announce that if we don?t pray ?soso? and so person will die?and mind you, he does not give a specific date for their death he only says ?this year? and if by the end of the year a prominent figure dies, then he jumps and say..oooh Owusu Bempah said it and it has come to pass.?
He quizzed that ?why it is that all Owusu Bempah?s prophecies are like ?God has revealed to me that if we don?t pray this person will die or ?I foresaw the death of this person but I prayed over it and God have reverted it. If his prophecies are not meant to create unnecessarily confusion, fear and panic, what purpose again does it serve??
Rev Owusu Bempah is noted for prophesying the death of noble figures in the country; in fact he has predicted the death of almost all prominent people in the country, ranging from President Mahama, Nana Akufo-Addo, Mrs Joyce Banford Addo, one of the Tsikata brothers amongst others.
In the 2012 elections, he predicted a win for the NPP and when the party lost and proceeded to court, he came back to announce that the NPP will win the court case, which also did not materialize.
The latest of his doom prophecies which has court him trouble from the Asanteman Council was his revelation that God revealed the death of the Otumfuor and his mother to him but he prayed to avert it.
The supposed death of the Ashanti monarch went viral in the media some few weeks ago out of which the Otumfuo had to wipe tears in public to express his disgust about the incident.
As many Ghanaians were trying to locate the source of that false statement, Rev Owusu Bempah in his usual antics announce in the media that he saw the Otumfuo?s death but had to fast and pray to save the Asante Kingdom from such a calamity.
The Asanteman Council has since ordered him to apologize or risk incurring the wrath of the gods which he has rudely refused.
Rev Owusu Benmaph?s modus operandi in the pastoral world is what the General of the ?In Him is Life International Church? say poses severe danger to the stability of the country and must not be allowed to flourish.
He said the doom prophet needs a ?teacher? or ?counselor? who will direct him to follow the appropriate channel of revealing his prophecies if indeed God has revealed anything to him.
