He was delivering a solidarity message at the induction of Rev Dr Emmanuel Adjei Kobla Amey, 56, as the second Clerk of the General Assembly of the Evangelical Presbyterian (E.P.) Church, Ghana, for the next six years and farewell to his predecessor Reverend Godwin K. Osiakwa.

The E.P. Church replaced the Synod concept of Church polity seven years ago with the General Assembly concept with Reverend Osiakwa as the pioneer Clerk of the General Assembly.

Rev Dr Opuni-Frempong said Churches in Ghana have the clout to influence and direct the course of events during the elections away from the atmosphere of fear, violence and panic characteristic of general election in the country.

He was unhappy that the Christian community in Ghana had become city based, conceding the rural areas to other non-Christian faiths which are experiencing phenomenal growth and influence among the rural communities, saying “We need to move faster in Ministry”.

Monsignor Anthony Kornu, Vicar-General of the Ho Diocese of the Catholic Church in a solidarity message exhorted Christians to “put what divides us aside and embrace what brings us together to witness for the Lord”.
