Ghanaian mega-group R2Bees, made up of Faisal Hakeem (Paedae da Pralem) and Rashid Mugeez, have been listed among the Top 13 African Celebrities To Watch in 2013 in a publication on Forbes.com. However, some music fans and critics are not enthused by the performance of Paedae, who is believed to be the financier of the group.
?Paedae is a national disaster, he must be banned from doing music,? according to Kofi Babone, an astute showbiz critic.
Kofi believes ?Paedae adds nothing to Ghana music and with the growth in popularity of r2bees in Africa people are going to ridicule GH rappers. He?s a bad export of GH rap.?
Citing some classic Paedae lines like ?I?m drinkin early in d mornin guess wat i?m sippin,i?m sippin on a TITANIC thinkin of SINKIN? and ?life is short like Mayweather?, Kofi believes Paedae should do better if R2Bees are to further their stakes in African showbiz.
?Paedae is failing to improve? D-Black when he came out was very bad but with time he?s improved and everyone seem to have forgotten about his bad raps.. Paedae is not improving? Mugeez is on a different level but his partner isn?t doing enough,? he added.
Whereas many others share in Kofi?s sentiments, others with contrasting views believe Paedae is just a perfect rapper who makes R2Bees well grounded.
Kumasi based Radio DJ and CEO of nydjlive.com, Ebenezer Donkor, believes Paedae should be appreciated for his skill.
?I wonder if people are being swayed by others perception about Paedae Da Pralem and tagging him as whack. Y?all better appreciate some of his lines well. How do you say he?s weak cos he says ?We are hot like we were born in August?? He employs a literary device known as simile which draws a comparison between two different things. Do you know how hot the weather is in August? Think about it,? he opined.
Paedae?s skill has been a topic under discussion on social media platforms TotalShowbiz has been monitoring since the year begun. While others including creative writer Quophy Appiah Obirikorang believe Paedae belongs to a League of Extraordinary Whack Rappers, other believe he?s got a unique style that makes him stand out of the lot.
One notable showbiz personality who spoke to TotalShowbiz on new year?s day has advised Paedae to do better in 2013.
?In 2013, Paedae should become a better rapper. No more ?Life is like Davido and Wizkid? business,? he said.
