FTSE 100 Index, British benchmark stock market gauge, Monday increased by 0.22 percent, or 15.16 points, to 7,037.67 points. 
Standard Chartered’s share price increased by 6.49 percent, topped the gainers of the blue chips. BHP Billiton, Glencore, Royal Dutch Shell ‘B’ and Imperial Tobacco Group increased by 3.38 percent, 2.61 percent, 2.03 percent and 1.93 percent respectively.
Burberry Group led the top losers of the blue chips with a share price drop of 2.56 percent, followed by GKN (2.21 percent), Weir Group (2.17 percent), Shire (2.11 percent) and Meggitt (1.83 percent).
The index has gained 8.36 percent so far this year when measured in U.S. dollar. Enditem
