After stirring a controversy over Ghana?s impending World Cup clash against Zambia, Chipolopolo goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene has gone quiet about the crucial World Cup Group ?D? qualifier in September fearing reprisals in the city of Kumasi.

The Sundowns goalkeeper had bragged about beating the Black Stars in Kumasi when the two sides meet in the crucial match to decide which team reaches the final stage of World Cup qualifiers.

Mweene on arrival in Accra on a training tour of Ghana with his South African club Sundowns, said Zambia will defeat the Black Stars in Kumasi.

He even went on to say he will make Asamoah Gyan retire from international football again but on arrival in the highly-passionate Kumasi, the bragging goalkeeper has gone quiet.

Mweene was tight-lipped and would not talk when asked about the Ghana-Zambia match when he arrived in Kumasi over the weekend.

?I have no comment to make on the match?, he told the GNA Sports, as his South African Club, Mamelodi Sundowns, engages in a pre-season training tour in Ghana.
?If you have any question concerning the match, contact officials of the Football Association of Zambian (FAZ)?, he remarked.

Ghana sits atop of Group D on 12 points, just a point richer than Zambia and needs at least a point to wrap up their place at the next round.

The build-up to the qualifier has been characterized by psychological warfare and mind games with the Zambians not hiding their intention to cause an upset in Kumasi.

The Chipolopolo has never qualified for the prestigious World Cup tournament. They beat the Stars 1-0 when the two sides met in Zambia.
