German luxury manufacturer BRABUS won a Red Dot Design Award for its BODO Gran Turismo coupe on July 7 in Essen, Germany, marking the brand’s fourth win in the category.
The coachbuilt two plus two seat coupe is built on the underpinnings of the Aston Martin Vanquish, reworked with a full carbon fiber body and a hand assembled 5.2 liter V12 biturbo engine producing 1,000 horsepower and 1,200 Nm of torque. BRABUS says the car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.0 seconds and reaches 300 km/h in 23.9 seconds, with an electronic limiter capping top speed at 360 km/h. Production is capped at 77 units worldwide, a nod to 1977, the year founder Bodo Buschmann started the company in Bottrop.
The Red Dot jury praised the car in the Product Design category, saying it was “characterized by the precise balance between sculptural appearance, aerodynamic integration and performance oriented technology.” Judges for the award, now in its fourth decade, weigh materials, craftsmanship, ergonomics and overall function alongside visual design.
Constantin Buschmann, BRABUS chief executive and Bodo Buschmann’s son, said the car took eight years to develop and represented a project his father had long wanted to build. He described the finished coupe as a tribute to his father and said the team was proud to see it recognized after a strong reception from customers.
BRABUS has now picked up Red Dot honors four times. The BRABUS Shadow 900 “Black Ops” limited edition boat won in 2020, the BRABUS Signature Night car fashion show won an Event Design award in 2023, and the BRABUS BIG BOY 1200 motorhome won in 2025.
