Bayelsa schools shut over flooding

The order was given to protect pupils in the state

Bayelsa State government has temporarily closed all schools in the state, as a result of rising water level across across the territory.

Chief Press Secretary to the State Governor, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, said in a statement on Tuesday that the order was given to  protect  pupils in the state.

Iworiso-Markson said, ?The decision was taken to safeguard the lives of children and to keep them away from possible dangers that could arise from the flood

?Government is by this appealing to parents and guardians to accept the decision as it was taken in the interest of all Bayelsans.

?We want to assure you that, normal academic activities will resume as soon as the situation is brought under control.?

Iworiso-Markson disclosed that  the order is immediate and indefinite.
