
The Directorate of Students Affairs of the African University College of Communications (AUCC) has organised the first ever Career and Industrial Attachment Fair for students at the premises of the school in Accra.
The fair brought together corporate organizations such as the Multimedia Group which comprises of Joy FM, Adom FM, Asempa FM, Hitz Radio, Multi TV and myjoyonline.com.
The rest are; The Telescope Journalistic Media International, Phoenix Insurance, Osons Chemist Ltd, United Bank for Africa and Graphic Communications Group Ltd.
Students were educated on the various job opportunities that exist in these organizations, what it takes and how they can take advantage of them.
The Director of students Affairs at AUCC, Mr Ogochukwu Nweke Chidebere, in an interview expressed satisfaction at the level of patronage.
According to him, the objective of the fair was to give students the opportunity to connect with the business world where the skills and knowledge received are applicable after graduating from school in order to enhance their employability.
The fair he noted provided a platform for students to have first hand contact with market players to know the expectations of industry from them even before they enter the world of work.
He said the fair offers a single stage for students of the two schools of AUCC; the Business school and the School of Communications on how to add value to themselves and society for the benefit of the African society.
The Director of Students Affairs said the fair gives the students the chance to learn basic requirements such as how to craft their curriculum vitae in order to secure jobs.
Organizations who exhibited at the fair expressed satisfaction at the level of maturity demonstrated by the students and assured to choose some to do industrial attachments and employment.
Mr Ogochukwu expressed optimism that the fair would become an annual affair on the university`s calendar.
Students who attended the fair were full of praise for the career fair and called for its periodic organization.
