A raging fire on Wednesday afternoon ravaged a 3-storey building at Atonsu-Monaco a suburb of the Kumasi Metropolis in the Ashanti region.
The cause of the inferno that destroyed properties estimated at several thousands of Ghana cedis is not immediately known but residents disclosed that it started from the last floor of the building.
More 40 occupants of the building have been rendered homeless after fruitless efforts to save properties that have all been reduced to ashes.
Fire fighters had a hectic time dousing the inferno but relied on assistance of other stations before the situation was brought under control.
Investigations into the actual cause of the incident have since commenced.
