The National Association of Sachet and Bottled Water Producers is putting together a special taskforce that will see to it that the activities of major mineral water producers in the country are brought down. Spy News Agency has gathered that the taskforce which plans to commence work soon is set to hit the premises of Ice Pak for what is expected to be a ?showdown?.
Speaking at a recent monthly stakeholders meeting in Accra, the President of the Association, Mr Magnus Nunoo, who said the taskforce will engage ?pure water? vendors and encourage them not to sell the Ice Pak products on the markets again. The action according to the association is because they claim producers of Ice Pak have flouted the association?s rules by selling the product below the agreed standard price.
This came to light when agitated wholesalers of mineral water in Accra called on the president to put ICE PAK to order or face the wrath of members.
The price of a sachet water in Ghana was at Gp10 for several years until recently when it was increased to Gp15. However, members of the association claims that despite what was agreed on as the official price, Ice Pak is still being sold on the market at Gp10. They therefore urged the company to immediately desist from the practice.
