The Afigya-Kwabre District Assembly has taken steps to strengthen security in the area through the construction of a district police headquarters at Kodie.

This is to help promote swift response to threats and emergency security situations.
Established in 2008, the district has various parts of it, coming under separate police jurisdictions ? Offinso, Mamponteng and Tafo-Pankrono.
Mr. Kwaku Oppong-Kyekyeku Kaakyire, the District Chief Executive (DCE), said this arrangement was not good enough, and must have to change to streamline things and give more protection to the people.
It is for this reason that they are upgrading the Kodie police station ? providing it with adequate office space and relevant facilities to function as headquarters.
He told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that police stations? in the area were also being augmented by the construction of new ones at Trabuom and Afrancho.
These projects are being funded from their share of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), he added.
Reporters of the nation?s wire service had gone there under GNA/STAR-Ghana media auditing and tracking of development projects, an initiative launched to put a spotlight on how government?s resources were helping to transform the lives of the people, particularly those in rural communities.
The goal is to aid transparency, promote accountability and good local governance.
Mr. Oppong-Kyekyeku noted that peace and security were critical to socio-economic development, and that was why the Assembly would go to all lengths to make sure that people went about their daily businesses without fear.
He said given the area?s proximity to Kumasi, many people were migrating to the place, something that had its own security challenges, which could neither be underestimated nor ignored.
