Hon. Duah Akowuah, Assembly Member for Sefwi Camp in the Kramokrom Electoral Area, has raised concerns about the deplorable state of the community’s school building, describing it as poor, painful, and the saddest situation confronting residents. Speaking to the media, he explained that despite appeals to government appointees, opinion leaders, traditional authorities, the Municipal Chief Executive, and the Member of Parliament for Sefwi Wiawso, the challenge remains unresolved.

Parents have refused to allow their children to study in the dilapidated structure, fearing for their safety. Akowuah lamented that it is shameful for Ghana, a country making progress, to still have communities like Camp and Kramokrom without proper school facilities. He stressed that education is the key to success, but without a safe and conducive environment, students cannot learn effectively in a collapsing building that poses threats to their lives.

He called on the Wiawso MCE and his team to investigate the situation and provide solutions. Akowuah further expressed frustration that although Sefwi Camp hosts two major timber companies, the community has not benefited from their presence. He urged the Municipal Assembly to ensure that companies contribute to community development through the Social Responsibility Agreement (SRA) fund to ease the burden on residents.

Finally, he pleaded with the government to urgently support the construction of a new school building to address the community’s pressing educational needs.
