Assembly members for the twenty-three (23) electoral administrative areas in the Denkyembuor District Assembly in the Eastern Region are angry at the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) for Akwatia Constituency, Mohammed Ahmed Baba Jamal.
According to them, the MP has taken the people in the said electoral area ?for granted.?
?Since Hon. Baba Jamal won election in December 7, 2012 he has not?embarked on a ?Thank you tour in the constituency to commend constituents for voting massively for him,? the Assembly members indicated.
The Assemblyman of Daenase Electoral Area, Hon. Castro Obeng-Danquah, who acted as the spokesperson for the aggrieved Assembly members made these observations in an interview with Today.
??Look we are aware that all the MPs have visited their constituencies to learn first-hand the social and infrastructural needs of their people but Hon. Baba Jamal has not made any attempt to that effect.?
?We have been made aware that the recent recess for the two hundred and seventy five (275) MPs was to allow them visit their constituencies to ascertain challenges facing their areas, but Baba Jamal has woefully failed to take advantage of that,? Hon. Obeng-Danquah expressed.
According to him, Baba Jamal by his actions has demonstrated clearly to his constituents that he will not be able to fulfil his campaign promises.
?Baba Jamal promised us of massive infrastructural development, improvement in agriculture, reducing floods, creation of jobs for the youth, maintenance of security and execution of the Great Consolidated Diamond Limited (GCDL)? but all these have been elusive,? Hon. Obeng-Danquah noted.
He also added that construction works on major social and infrastructural projects started by the former Member of Parliament (MP) for Akwatia, Dr. Kofi Asare, have all been unattended to.
