Some members of the Nkawkaw Power House Assemblies of God Church have vowed to demonstrate against the authorities of Kwahuman International School at Nkawkaw in the Kwahu West Municipality of the East region, for allegedly neglecting them after the school’s concrete wall collapsed into the church’s building killing one and others sustain serious injuries.
They further stressed that the planned demonstration would also be extended to the Kwahu West Municipal Assembly for turning blind eye on the dangerous nature of the wall since the school had defied the orders of the Assembly to remove the wall.
One of the church members, Madam Akua Mansah, who spoke to the paper said since the incident happened members of the church have been disorganized, adding that part of the remaining ?concrete wall looked more dangerous which could cause another harm if it is not removed.
They have also accused the Kwahu West Municipal Engineer, Ofori Danso, of siding with the authorities of the school to defy the orders since the structure still imposes danger.
They have therefore called on the authorities? concerned as a matter of urgency, particularly the Kwahu West Municipal Assembly to intervene to ensure the demolishing of the structure to avert any further occurrences.
On his part, the District Pastor of the church, Peter Abene, dismissed speculation that the church has not got building permit, disclosing that the church had valid building documents since 1994.
He, therefore, made a passionate appeal to all Assemblies of God Churches in Ghana and other benevolent organizations to come to their aid to help put up a new church building.
However, attempts to contact the authorities of the school and the Kwahu West Engineer proved futile since they were said to have traveled out of the town.
