Ashafa restates commitment to provision of potable water

The lawmaker representing Lagos East Senatorial District in the senate, Senator ‘Gbenga Ashafa at the weekend commissioned a laudable water project for the benefit of the residents of Odo-Nla community, Ikorodu.water project

The lawmaker who has in the past commissioned several constituency projects in the district, among which boreholes constitute about 40% has again commissioned another motorized borehole and accessories at Bola Tinubu Estate, Odo-Nla , Ikorodu North LCDA.

During the handing over ceremony, Ashafa emphasised the importance of the project to the community whilst generally acknowledging the importance of water as one of the most important God-given natural resources.
He used the occasion to reiterate his commitment and dedication to the improvement of the welfare of communities in the senatorial district through the ample provision of vital facilities and social infrastructure.

“Under my tenure, thirty boreholes have been installed in various communities across the senatorial district. Some of our other constituency projects include: Construction of Classroom Blocks in 11 locations, 2 Drainage Channels, 4 Ambulance Points and 1 Science Laboratory; Provision of 22 Power Transformers, Streetlights in 3 arterial roads, and 1 Skill Acquisition Centre.?” He said.

The lawmaker who promised to empower some artisans in the area as part of the beneficiaries of his popular weekly empowerment programme , also advised the beneficiaries to cultivate maintenance culture ?towards the project.
“I would like to use this opportunity to urge the people of Tinubu Estate and other beneficiary communities that a high sense of community participation in these social interventions that we bring is a prerequisite for sustainability. Please ensure that this borehole project is well maintained so that it will serve you and others for a long time.?” He added.

In response to the lawmaker, the Chairman of the Estate, Engr Adesanya Adekoya expressed his joy for the gesture. In his words “on behalf of the entire estate, I want to use this medium to say a big thank you to the distinguished Senator for this timely gesture, it is highly appreciated, I pray that God will grant him the zeal to keep doing more to the entire senatorial district”.

The event was well attended with a number of dignitaries present, including Hon. (Mrs.) Toyin Salau (APC Party Chairman, Ikorodu-North LCDA), Engr. Adesesan Adekoya (Estate Chairman), Hon. Kunle Ogunbela (Former Chairman, Ikorodu-North LCDA), Alhaji Akibu Adewunmi (Chairman of Apex Leaders in Ikorodu-North LCDA), The Five Ward Chairmen in Ikorodu-North LCDA and Hon. Amuda Olawale (APC Youth Leader, Ikorodu-North LCDA), among others.
