The members also distributed pamphlets and educational materials on healthy environment to residents.

Mr. Freeman K. Madji, Chief Executive Officer of ASCUM asked the people to keep their environment clean, reminding them that; cleanliness is next to Godliness?.

The CEO said: ?Constant clean-ups of this kind will prevent the breeding of mosquitoes and eliminate malaria, since filth and pollution are natural hazards?.

He stated that similar programmes had been designed for the ten Units of the Movement comprising over 600 members across the country, to help keep the communities clean.

Mr. Madji urged other organisations to work hard to ensure a clean environment, saying, ASCUM would continue to create public awareness on the negative effect of filth on the environment.

Mr. Emmanuel A. Annor, Eastern Regional Co-ordinating Director of ASCUM, appealed to the people to support programmes aimed at keeping the environment clean and that, the Movement would collaborate with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to organize seminars to sensitise the public on the importance of clean environment to national development.

Mr. Annor said the Movement had already contacted the National Board for Small Scale Industries to organize workshops on cottage industries for the people.
