RECRUITMENT OF EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR FOR THE PEASANT FARMERS ASSOCIATION OF GHANA
- ABOUT PEASANT FARMERS ASSOCIATION OF GHANA (PFAG)
The Peasant Farmers Association of Ghana (PFAG) is an apex Farmer Based Organisation established with the mandate to advocate for pro-poor agriculture and trade policies. The PFAG’s vision is “a life of dignity for the peasant farmer” and has a mission “to work with others to create conducive environment for agricultural development and the growth of smallholder farmers in Ghana”. The objectives of PFAG are to: advocate for conducive agricultural and trade policies that has an impact on the livelihoods of smallholder farmers in Ghana; be the mouth piece of smallholder farmers; create a platform for smallholder farmers to voice out their concerns; build the entrepreneurial capacity of smallholder farmers towards wealth creation and provide agribusiness training to transform smallholder subsistence farming practice to farming as a business.
The PFAG seek to recruit an Executive Director (ED) to head its national secretariat based in Accra who will also serve as a Technical Adviser to the Board of Directors of PFAG

6.0. Job Description: The Executive Director will among other things:
- Develop strategic objectives and direction for PFAG. The ED shall devise new strategic plans that will lead to the achievement of PFAG’s visions and mission
- Implement proposed plans of PFAG. The ED shall oversee the overall strategic direction, lead in developing strategies and plans that align with both PFAG short-term and long-term objectives of improving the livelihoods of smallholder farmers in Ghana.
- Lead in advocacy activities: The ED shall lead all PFAG advocacy plans, engagement with government, the private sector and other development partners
- Human resource development: The ED shall develop strategies to ensure well-resourced human resource for PFAG secretariat
- Fund raising and resource mobilization. The ED shall lead in fund raising and resource mobilization for implementation of PFAG planned activities
- Farmer mobilization: The ED shall develop strategies to mobilize farmers and empower them leading to formidable farmer based organization
- Communication: The ED shall serve as communication link between the PFAG secretariat, the Board of Directors and the general public
| ▪ The ED shall lead in partnership building between PFAG and government actors, the private sector, Civil Society organisations and other development partners
▪ The ED shall perform any other function as the board deem necessary for the development and benefit of smallholder farmers in Ghana 7.0. Qualifications ▪ Minimum of Master’s Degree in Development Studies, Business Administration, Project Management, Human Resource Management or related field ▪ Ability to work under pressure with no supervision ▪ Demonstrate understanding of project management concepts and principles ▪ Strong knowledge in M&E systems ▪ Fluency in English language and any Ghanaian language ▪ Demonstrate leadership abilities and human resource management ▪ Have diverse knowledge in global political economy of agriculture and food policies ▪ Being familiar with power dynamics and political economy of food and agriculture in Ghana ▪ Being familiar with the culture of agriculture and farming in Ghana ▪ Good communication skills 8.0. Work experience ▪ Minimum of ten years work experience in Civil Society Organisation, Funding Organisation and NGO management ▪ Experience in policy advocacy ▪ Experience in fund raising ▪ Experience in project management ▪ Experience in organizational and human resource management 9.0.
