Ghana coach Appiah will name his squad this afternoon in Accra
Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has admitted he has had sleepless nights over today?s selection of players for the 2014 World Cup next month.
The Black Stars boss will name his provisional squad for the World Cup at 12:30 GMT in Accra today as they prepare to face a tough group at the tournament in Brazil.
But the depth of talent in the Black Stars squad means Appiah has been faced with of a lot mental gymnastics before he names the team he thinks can help Ghana to excel at the World Cup.
There are a lot of talented players in Europe and elsewhere while some home-based players particularly those in the CHAN squad proved their mettle in January?s tournament in South Africa.
Appiah admits that the selection process has been mentally challenging because of the array of talent available for selection into the team.
?Choosing 30 players out of all these gifted and talented players across the world has never been easy and I must say it gave me some sleepless nights,? Appiah said.
?Ghana is one country that is easy yet difficult to coach. Easy in the sense that, there is so much talent wherever you look, across the world. But the difficult aspect is selecting the very best arsenals for the nation for a competition or a tournament.?
Despite the mental torture he has faced in selecting the players he thinks can help the Black Stars, Appiah says the country must rally behind the selected players to help the Black Stars win laurels for the country.
?But I am happy that very soon it will be over and we all can work together and forge ahead as one nation to put up a better showing at the World Cup in Brazil.?
Ghana will find out Appiah?s squad for the World Cup by 13:00 GMT with some hearts to be pleased with many others to be disappointed.
