APC and PDP clash over attacks unleashed on members

Osun State chapter of? All Progressive Congress and Peoples Democratic Party on Thursday disagreed over the increasing attacks unleashed on their members.

While APC alleged that its members were being assaulted by the opposition party, PDP claimed more harassment had been carried out by APC.

The Acting Chairman Campaign Committee of APC in Ijesa South Federal Constituency, Mr Idowu Korede, in a press conference on Thursday alleged that members of PDP were? running? illegal detentions.

The assaults, according to him, included illegal arrest, harassment of members and destruction of bill boards and posters.

He specifically mentioned that the attack was escalated by the affirmation of Governor Rauf Aregbesola at the election petition tribunal, ?noted that the case have been reported to the police.

He accused Fadahunsi the candidate of the? PDP in the zone ?of being behind the series of attack on the supporters of the APC.

He said, “Despite all the attacks and assaults, we will remain peaceful. But? security agencies in the country should remain non-partisan and apolitical in the discharge of their duties especially in t?he election period.

“The Osun State Police Command of the Nigerian Police Force should intervene in the matter and find a lasting solution to it.”

When contacted, the state secretary of? the Peoples Democratic ?Party, Mr Bola Ajao, faulted the allegations.

He described them as “unfounded and baseless”, saying “any party which has a problem with other should approached the securities for necessary measure”.
