In an interview with General Secretary of N.I.C Concerned Citizen Association Mr. Nana Kwame Andoh, he said there is an open -pit in the area which was created as result of a quarry.
This he noted that, the Waste Management Contractor claimed he has been mandated to dump refuse in the open-pit.
According to him, some years ago the residents suffered a severed Malaria , Diarrhoea and cholera as a result of a refuse dumping in the area which later led to the death of innocent souls, adding that, the unauthorized deposition of the refuse did not only killed their people but; it also polluted all their water bodies.This he said, the decision is a hazardous one to the community.
The residents therefore, stressed that the menace should be treated with a serious concern since the dumping of the refuse in the area will cause a serious health implication to the people.
According to the angry residents, they will continue to fight such unauthorized decision in order to avoid needless diseases and deaths in the area.
They are therefore calling on the Environmental Protection Agency, the Ga Central Municipal Assembly, the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development as a matter of a urgency to call Mr. Stanley Owusu and Waste Management his cohorts to order.
