The Progressive People’s Party (PPP) national campaign bandwagon landed in the Brong Ahafo region yesterday with everyone who has heard of the impact of the party waiting with bated breath to receive the new lease of life in Ghana’s politics.
The party’s first port of call in the region was Sunyani, the regional capital, where led by its presidential candidate, Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom, paid a courtesy call on the Brong-Ahafo Regional Catholic Bishop, Most Reverend Matthew Gyamfi.
Rev. Gyamfi remarked that he believed the 2012 elections was going to be in the form of the Biblical David and Goliath encounter; PPP being David and New Patriotic Party ( NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC) being Goliath.
The Nduom entourage then went to the campus of Sunyani Polytechnic where Dr Nduom witnessed the inauguration of the Sunyani Poly branch of the Progressive Youth Movement; the youth wing of the party.
The lecture hall of the institution was filled with a teeming crowd of both students and party faithful who came from far and near to witness the event.
The ceremony was addressed by the National Youth Leader of the party, Divine Nkrumah, National Secretary, Kofi Siaw-Asamoah and the Communications Director of the party, Richmond Keelson.
Mr Keelson noted that the upcoming elections was about who had the best Curriculum Vitae (CV).
He explained that Dr Nduom scores best in his family life, business life as well as political life.
On his part, Dr Nduom said the PPP can offer the needed results to see Ghana move forward hence its desire to govern the nation.
Dr Nduom proceeded to the Sunyani central market where his presence brought activities to a standstill; almost everyone wanted to catch a glimpse of the ‘Edwumawura.’
He also used the opportunity to address the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) staff as well as taxi drivers and passengers present at the taxi rank within the market.
At Techiman, Dr Nduom opened a party office to enhance the work of the party in the region.
He also met some GPRTU leaders and passengers at the terminal.
Dr Nduom’s entourage then proceeded to Wenchi for the next leg of their nationwide tour.
