He said, by so doing it would go a long way to help them to be well-informed in order to serve the interest and welfare of their communities and people creditably.
Dr Adams gave the advice when he officially inaugurated sub-structures at Kasoa, Walantu, Kpormetey, Opeikuma, Akweley and Ofaakor communities in the Municipality.
He stated that, the zonal council as structures below the assembly is made of assembly members and unit members to assist in the execution of the vision and mission as well as implementation of various programmes and project of the assembly to better the lot of the citizenry.
“As you would agree with me that the Municipal Assembly cannot function effectively without a functioning and supportive sub-structure below it and therefore, the importance of the zonal councils towards the effective implementation of the local governance and decentralization system cannot be over emphasised,” he said.
Dr Adams said as torch bearers of social, economic and political change they are to communicate clearly and effectively the policies, programmes and projects of the Assembly to the electorate in order to appreciate them to have the desired impact on them.
He said, as part of their functions, they are to enumerate, keep records of all ratable persons and properties in their places of operation, assist persons authorised by the Assembly to collect revenues and to report all unauthorised developmental projects being executed in their localities.
“ We should all put ourselves out in the various roles we play to serve well-being and interest of our people.”
