Allegedly hijacking: Confusion hits Sunyani Poly TEIN

0

teinThe Sunyani polytechnic chapter of the Tertiary Education Institutional Network of the National Democratic Congress (TEIN-NDC) is currently in disarray. The patron of the group, one Dickson Kyere-Duah, also known as Stugard has been accused of hijacking the roles of the elected Executives, rendering them useless and inactive.

There are also allegations of visible attempts by some unseen forces to manipulate the group?s impending elections to favor the choice of some people.

?This we think is an affront to our democratic struggle and a well-orchestrated ploy to denigrate the executive members of TEIN and to subject them to public ridicule. He (Stugard) has sidelined the current executives and even instituted a vetting panel without the involvement of the current executives but rather the former TEIN President which we think is a discredit to us,? a statement from the Executives of the group stated.

The leadership of the NDC has therefore been called upon to intervene early so as to save the group from collapse.

Below is the full statement issued on Thursday:

TEIN NDC-SUNYANI POLYTECHNIC CHAPTER IN A DISARRAY ?OVER DESERTION AND CONTEMPT

We write to draw the attention of the National Democratic Congress- Brong Ahafo Region to the state of affairs prevailing in the Tertiary Education Institutions Network of NDC (TEIN-NDC) Sunyani Polytechnic Chapter. We are distressed executives of TEIN-NDC in Sunyani Polytechnic.

This statement is to inform you of our disappointment in our Patron for the approach he employed in the electoral processes leading to the appointment of executives for the 2015/2016 academic year. The Patron (acting) in the person of Dickson Kyere-Duah (Stugard) tactfully manipulated the process with the Regional Youth Organizer superintending over what we call a calculated attempt to disparage the current executives and to deny the aspirants of a fair deal in the run-up to the realization of new executives.

Mr. Kyere-Duah frustrated attempts by the current executives to successfully discharge their legitimate duties as expected of their offices and descended to assume the administrative role even as he claims to be a TEIN Chief Patron. As a patron, there is nothing materially worthy of being mentioned as a consequence of his contribution to the development of the current administration. Rather, his actions and inactions led to the annihilation of the repute of TEIN as the once icon of student partisan activism. He particularly frustrated the efforts of the current TEIN President in the person of Ayipah Aduah Charles who has been working relentlessly to restore the glory, glitz and glamour that Sunyani Polytechnic is noted for in student politics. He then has to resort to other sister institutions such as the University for Development Studies-Navrongo Campus, Sunyani Nurses Training College among others within the Brong Ahafo Region to successfully carry out his political activities in order to remain relevant to the party.

This we think is an affront to our democratic struggle and a well-orchestrated ploy to denigrate the executive members of TEIN and to subject them to public ridicule. He (Stugard) has sidelined the current executives and even instituted a vetting panel without the involvement of the current executives but rather the former TEIN President which we think is a discredit to us, for this aggregates to total disregard for us as executives.

He (Stugard) and other members of the panel have subsequently gone ahead to appoint some of the aspirants to executive positions without due recourse to the executive. This amounts to the breach of fairness, equity and social justice which our party treasure so greatly and serve as basis for our establishment. Moreover, we think that the overly interference of the Regional Youth Organizer in our internal affairs brings the high image of his office into disrepute.

We therefore beseech both the constituency youth organizer of Sunyani East under whose jurisdiction we directly operate as an intellectual youth wing of the party, the regional organizer and all well-meaning party faithful of the NDC, to as a matter of urgency; intervene in this anomaly to remedy the situation before it assumes a messy enormity as justice delayed is justice denied. We wish to state emphatically that we do not have any individual interest other than the supreme interest of TEIN which can only be accomplished by ideals such as equity, fairness, transparency and social justice which we are prepared to fight for with all our might to obtain???we can never be satisfied until justice rolls down like waters and righteousness like a mighty ocean??.

We are counting on your expeditious and timely action before we advise ourselves further on what to do next. As Rev. Dr. M. L. King Jnr. Once admonished, Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere?

Long live TEIN!

Long live NDC!!

Long live Ghana!!!

Thank You
