Kwasi Kyei Darkwa or KKD for short is a free man for now but could soon find himself back in court. The ace broadcaster has been standing trial for the alleged rape of a 19 year old girl since last year.
. A 12 person?s jury was scheduled to be announced soon but instead the state prosecutors decided that the state was no longer interested in the case against him.
The main reason given by the state for abandoning the case is the reluctance of the victim to testify against KKD. The victim who claims to be traumatised by the incident and its aftermath feels she is not in the right frame of mind to step into a courtroom.
The state felt that it wasn?t in their best interest and that of the girls to present her in court. The state also claims that other witnesses to the case are unwilling to testify against KKD and even though they believed in the case, they have no option but to abandon it for now.
In a letter signed by the Attorney General, the AG said she is ready and reserve the right to commence the prosecution once the victim and witnessed are ready. Meanwhile KKD?s daughter is quoted as saying they will be returning to the hotel the alleged rape incident happened to celebrate.
