An aide to Mr. Alan Kyerematen, has disclosed that the former minister of Trade and Industry in the Kufour administration, will contest the New Patriotic Party?s (NPP) Presidential primaries to lead the party in the 2016 elections.

Speaking on?Eyewitness News, Philip Longdon toldCiti News?that ?I am confirming it on authority that he [Alan Kyerematen] will announce it at the appropriate time himself.??
??Mr. Kyerematen?s decision to contest was borne out of the mounting pressures from the party?s grassroots supporters,?? he added.
According to him the pressure is high for Mr. Kyerematen to step forward and go for the NPP primaries and ??to appease those edging supports who are anxious??.
Mr. Longdon said at the appropriate time Mr. Kyerematen will make the announcement.
The party?s 2012 presidential candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo who is also tipped to lead the party in the 2016 election is yet to announce his plans for his political future.
