Airtel Ghana’s flagship Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, ‘Touching Lives’ is back on the screens.
The programme, which aims to change the lives of people living under trying circumstances, starts airing from Sunday, March 11, 2011 on selected TV stations across the country and will run for 13 weeks.
At the media launch in Accra, the Managing Director of Airtel Ghana, Philip Sowah said “with ‘Touching Lives,’ we create an opportunity for Ghanaians to nominate people they know who are going the extra mile to make a difference in the lives of others, be it their families or communities.
“A strong emphasis of the programme is offering support which is sustainable.”
He explained that after receipt of nominations, a research team would be set up to investigate each story and select those who despite the unfavourable conditions in which they find themselves, are making remarkable contributions to their families and communities.
He noted that “with touching lives we do not like to quantify what we give back to our communities in monetary terms. We believe that seeing the smiles on the faces of those whose lives we have touched and knowing that our support will sustain their lives makes us immensely satisfied.”
The Director for Human Resources and CSR of Airtel Ghana, Fafali Dzobo, explained that the season two will include an update on some of the season one stories focusing on ‘life after the show’.
“The new stories in Touching Lives 2 for this season cover themes such as selflessness, women empowerment, love, family among others. We do know that through these stories, we will touch the lives of viewers,” Ms. Dzobo added.
The first episode of season two subtitled, ‘Rebecca the Hero’ was screened for the media.
