Mr Solomon Anani Attipoe, the New Juaben South Municipal Crop Officer, Food and Agriculture Ministry, has encouraged the youth to venture into agriculture, telling them that, it is a good business.
They should take advantage of the government’s signature “Planting for Food and Jobs” (PFJ) programme to better their lives.
The call comes amid continued registration of farmers in the municipality for the PFJ programme.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Koforidua, Mr. Attipoe said farmers enrolled into the programme would get their supplies of agricultural inputs – subsidized seeds and fertilizers from accredited input dealers.
Participating farmers are issued with identification (ID) cards after registering and all that they would have to do is to take along with them their ID cards to the sale points to access the seeds and fertilizers.
Mr Attipoe said for this year, the municipality, is focusing on the cultivation of maize, rice, soya beans, tomatoes and pepper.
