Nigerian singer and actor Olubankole Wellington, widely known as Banky W, turned 45 on Friday, and his wife, actress Adesua Etomi-Wellington, marked the occasion with a warm and deeply personal tribute on Instagram.
The couple, who married in November 2017 in a widely publicised ceremony, have built one of Nigeria’s most admired celebrity marriages, with both stars raising two young sons.
In the birthday post, Adesua described her husband as her best friend, lover, and the finest father their children could have. She praised his qualities as a partner, writing that he leads their home with love, grace, kindness, patience, and peace, and that he makes everything easy for their family.
Her tribute moved from affection into fervent prayer, asking that God continue to bless and protect her husband, that his name be spoken favourably in rooms he has never entered, and that no enemy plot against him would stand. She signed off with a declaration that her love for him has only grown stronger over the years.
The public display of affection follows a milestone month for the Wellington household. In February, Banky W celebrated Adesua’s 40th birthday with an equally heartfelt Instagram post listing 40 things he loves about her, a tribute that went viral and drew warm reactions from fans and colleagues across the entertainment industry.
Banky W rose to prominence in the mid-2000s as one of Nigeria’s leading rhythm and blues artists before expanding into acting and politics. He has run for a seat in the Lagos House of Representatives and holds a graduate degree from a United States university.
