Pastor Enoch Adeboye has urged Nigeria’s government to give its security chiefs 90 days to wipe out terrorists or resign, in a video posted Tuesday amid worsening insecurity.
The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) said clerics can only advise the commander in chief, while accountability for results rests with the state. He pressed for measurable outcomes rather than routine assurances.
“Get rid of these terrorists within 90 days, or resign,” he said.
Adeboye went further, insisting any directive must also reach those financing and shielding armed groups. He warned that efforts to restore peace would stay incomplete if sponsors of terrorism continued operating unchecked because of wealth or political status.
He drew on a past attempt to make his point. Adeboye recalled advising the late former president Muhammadu Buhari, who issued a similar three month order against Boko Haram but did not enforce it once the deadline passed. The cleric said he later asked the former leader why he stopped, but declined to share the details.
The intervention is not new. Adeboye made a comparable 90 day appeal in late 2025, and the latest call lands as Nigeria grapples with a run of kidnappings and attacks on schools and communities that has fuelled demands for tougher action.
