Striker Emmanuel Adebayor

Togolese isn’t national striker, Emmanuel Adebayor will either bank a?whopping ?(?1.4m) if he is still at White Hart Lane in February, or lose the same amount should he be forced out of the club in January.?

The two clubs the player is involved with, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspurs, are the ones that the payment will financially hurt.

Spurs must pay City the money by the end of January as part of a ?5m transfer fee for the Togo international when he joined them on a permanent basis at the start of last season.

But because the former Arsenal and Real Madrid striker took a pay cut to move to London, City have to top up his wages and as soon as the ?1.4m is deposited in their account it will be transferred to the 29-year-old forward.

Turkish club Besiktas have been linked with a move for Adebayor in the new year but, not surprisingly, he insists he wants to fight for his Tottenham future.

He started the season training with the reserves but worked well during the international break and made his first appearance of the campaign as a half-time substitute for Lewis Holtby in the 6-0 defeat to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

It appears he has buried the hatchet with manager Andre Villas-Boas and may be included in the squad on a regular basis as Spurs find a way to turn around the sudden dip in form.
