Adamawa State Governor Impeached

download (2)The Adamawa State House of Assembly in Yola has impeached the state Governor Murtala Nyako on the premise that the governor is guilty of gross misconduct.

?Per Second news gathered that the State Assembly Speaker, Ahmadu Fintiri, would be sworn in as the governor by 4pm today(Tuesday).

Eighteen out of the 24 members of the Assembly voted to impeach the governor after adopting the report of the seven-man panel set up to investigate allegations of gross misconduct against the governor and his deputy, Bala Ngilari.

Ngilari, however, submitted his letter of resignation to the Assembly on Tuesday morning, hours before the lawmakers could sack him and his principal.

Following the submission of the impeachment panel constituted by the Adamawa State Acting Chief Judge, the Deputy governor of the state Mr. Bala James Ngalari has resigned from office.


Earlier, the deputy governor resigned.

This is just as the State House of Assembly is about sitting to consider the recommendation of the panel’s report that probe allegations of gross misconduct against Governor Murtala Nyako and his depputy, Barr. Bala James Ngilari.

Speaker Umaru Ahmad Fintiri read the resignation letter of Ngilari at the plenary of the House and was unanimously accepted.
