One hundred and thirty-five artisans drawn from the 13 districts in Upper East Region, are undergoing a five- day training Programme in Bolgatanga to be competitive on the job market.
The programme is organised by the Association of Building and Civil Engineering Contractors of Ghana (ABCECG) in collaboration with the Council for Technical and Vocational Education Training (COVET) and sponsored by World Bank and the Danish International Development Agency.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Regional Chairman of ABCECG, Mr Bukari Ayamga expressed optimism that the training would help empower the participants with the requisite training skills.

Ms Fati Issahaku, Monitoring Officer for COVET in charge of Skills Development Fund said Ghana Human Resource Solution and Due Diligence are some of the organisations engaged to offer training programmes to the artisans.
Some of the topics the participants are being exposed to are occupational hazards, technical skills and basic skills.
