79 rhinos poached in Namibia so far this year

Namibian Police Friday said two rhino carcasses were found in Etosha National Park last week, bringing the number of rhino being poached this year in the country to 79.

Etosha National Park, which is Namibia’s biggest game park, is about 415 kilometers from the capital city Windhoek.

The carcasses that were found on Monday and Tuesday had their horns removed.

According to the police, the poachers killed the rhinos, dehorned them and removed the remaining stumps.

There has been a spike in rhino poaching in Namibia since 2011 when one rhino was reportedly poached; two in 2012; four in 2013 and 25 in 2014. Enditem
