After more than a 24-hour rescue effort at the Achimota Melcom shopping centre 76 persons have been retrieved from the rubble, out of which 9 are dead, Ghananewslink.com has gathered.
Of the deceased 4 are man and the 5 others, women.
Rescue operations are still ongoing and it is believed many more survivors will be found alive further below the piles of iron and concrete.
The dead and injured were taken to the 37 Military Hospital, the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, the Police Hospital and the Achimota District Hospital. Some have been treated and discharged.
Specialised rescuers and equipment is expected in the county today from Israel to help with the NADMO coordinated efforts.
Investigation is to commence into to the collapse. Officials of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, Thursday morning, held a meeting with some management member of Melcom.
