Parliament Grilled Foreign Affairs Minister Over Gambian Killings

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hanna Tetteh has been summoned by Parliament to answer questions on the gruesome murder of the Ghanaian Nationals in the Gambia.

Hannah TettehThe House of Parliament revisited the killings of 40 Ghanaians and other West African Nationals in the Gambia in 2005.

In view of this, the Foreign Affairs Minister was grilled on the whole situation. The MP for Jaman South Yaw Afful quizzed the Foreign Minister on whether the funeral donations and compensations received from the Gambian Government have been fully disbursed.

In her response, the Minister said the Gambian Government paid five hundred thousand US Dollars for the organization of funerals, burial of victims and payment of some compensation to families of the victims.

Madam Hanna Tetteh said by the December 2010, 27 families of the victims were identified and verified for payment.
